This programming code creates the FASC variable within the Transformed Medicaid Statistical Information System (T-MSIS) Analytic File (TAF) for pre-2020 years, which do not include this variable. It may be useful to population research in the ADRD space because it allows ADRD researchers to classify utilization of individuals with ADRD in Medicaid and look at patterns of Medicaid-based services like Home and Community-based Services (HCBS), long-term services and supports (LTSS), and acute care as services received by beneficiaries identified as having ADRD.

More broadly and beyond ADRD, this resource can classify utilization in Medicaid across conditions, populations, states, and years supporting studies of health care utilization, spending, access, care settings and transitions between home-and community-based and institutional care.
