People living with Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD) could benefit from social services like adult day care and meals on wheels, but it is unclear if these services are available where they are most needed. This study will use nationally representative data to (1) compare the locations of social services with where people with AD/ADRD live, and (2) evaluate whether closer access to these services is linked to better health outcomes, such as less antipsychotic use, fewer falls, and fewer hospitalizations. By mapping gaps in service availability and their impact on health, this project aims to inform policymakers about how to better align social services with community needs and support healthier aging for people with dementia.
